Hire a designer.
March 3rd, 2008Boss has decided to hire an additional person because we all want to go back at 7pm. Send your stuff or cv to the birds on the tree.
To compliment, I found a website, which I will not mention here, showing a list of additional services a graphic designer should provide:
- research
- costing
- strategic planning
- communications coordination
- project management
- quality control
Kind of scary eh? These cliques are common and scary but its just the way these things go about sometimes. Sounds like big words put together to create a nice impression of things and to create and ensure 100% creative flux. But here are some ways to see things:
- sounds something like going online [google.com] or flipping Bob Gill books over and over again.
- just ask the account planner to figure it out; you don’t design costings anyway.
- make sure your drafts look as polish as possible to help things move faster and avoid picking up calls after 5pm because silly requests usually come in that time.
- ask the account executive to do all the talking, make sure your client gets a call everyday for political stability.
- make sure the printer is aware that he has a very tight deadline to work on.
- warn the printer that if he screws up anything he is in danger and he will have to bear the costings.
Or another nicer way to look at things:
- make sure you have a proper understanding of the current status of your clients product.
- work hard along the fine lines of giving the best within a reasonable budget that everyone is happy about.
- foresee the future undertakings of the product.
- make sure that everyone is on a common ground on things.
- things that have to move on must go first before things that are subject to delay can proceed.
- recheck over and over again the current status and condition of the final products to get a better picture of the absolute final product.
Have nothing to say or comment about this. Truth is I thought it would be fun to list down a list of boring designer-must-do-and-very-cliqued list. Be reminded that these are the sort of stuff your school teacher or motivation class guru will tell.
