Last night, I disciplined myself to learn this song. Armed with the March 2008 issue of Guitar Techniques, my arsenal and a metronome, with the backing tracks from the CD, I nailed down the licks in about one hour (I’m not Steve Stevens). I’m still missing the little details at the solo ending but yeah, who plays the licks that accurate anyway.
I have one of those little ugly notebooks I got from some design conference last year printed on a really nice piece of paper called Garda. I love the paper as to the rubbery touch it gives. I kind of love the way the paper presents itself around the pages of the notebook and well, reacts with the ink. Kind of like the smell when its new, but hate if after a while.
Inside, pages of supposedly ‘Things to do today’ are replaced with spontaneous scribbles of quotes, wishes, goals, evaluations, critiques, etc. As usual, no revolutionary theories, mind-boggling entries or heart-pumping eye opening statements that could change humanity.
Here are some:

What is good design?
• How to work towards good design & deliver it?
• If your clients are happy, does it make your peers happy? Or are you happy?
Somethings just need to wait a little while… Just to get the best out of it. Really.
Typefaces that make you go ‘eek’! (emotional)
• Mrs. Eaves
• Eureka
• Jokerman
• Giza
• Futura (I must have had a reason then which I cannot remember today)
Looking at things in a different prespective:
- Analyze like a copywriter
- Write like a writer
- Execute like a desktop artist
- Dress like a salesman
- Think like a businessman
Things I have been observing:
• Penguin
• Radiohead
I WISH I COULD BE OF HELP TO PEOPLE. ESPECIALLY IN DOING THE THINGS I DO BEST.
None of the above has been edited except in the removal of a word before the text starts at number 8. The entries above have been entered from about October last year until March this year.
Last Thursday, I was sick in bed and bored. I just wish I had divide my time better to do more stuff at that time. Or perhaps troubleshoot certain things that can help make life and work easier today. Instead of wasting time, even when I’m sick.
An interpretation of what I mean would be; If I take 30 minutes to drive to office, I could have used the time to watch a movie after 4 working days. If I spend 10 minutes walking up the stairs to my room everyday, I have walked an estimate of 2 hours 10 minutes walking a week, and that’s about 8 hours 40 minutes of walking in one month, equivalent to almost walking for a quarter of a day, which could have been saved if I stay at the ground floor. Probably use it to hang out or work or maybe do some real exercising. My latest entry to the ugly notebook is; I need to plan my time better to avoid frustration.
Got this out last month. Pretty much my first time dealing with mass consumer and food related design or graphics, which I have entirely no experience in.
Primary typeface is Linotype’s Clarendon. FF Zapata as secondary typeface for the logo.
Yeah by now you can tell that I’m displaying drafts and mock-ups here. Also, go there and try the food. My colleagues say the pasta taste good. It’s somewhere near One Utama.
Kidding; not really but it would be great to own one of this as its within my budget for a new decent guitar to play. It’s almost close to the tone that I’m looking for, something twangy but at the same time has the punch and kick of the glorious humbuckers. I find my Ibanez RG2570ex a little bit too loud and too dirty for the bands that I usually play with. Probably I might modify the pickups into something more ‘vintage’ in tone. Let’s just see how it goes.
