Again, Pentagram doing what they are good at. Hurry, grab whatever past issues of Time magazine.

Pentagram’s blog reports:
“We created a system that we thought would resonate with today’s readers. It’s full of quick bits and relevant info, but still retains the spirit of TIME. We used the display typeface Franklin Gothic that was part of the history of the magazine, and revisited the grid used by Walter Bernard,”

Ah, by the way, the American Society of Magazine Editors claim this cover below to be ranked 12th on their top 40 magazine covers for the past 40 years list:

is god dead?

Anybody can tell me what typeface is that? ;)

Prox It
  • Kay
    Looking at year - 1966.
Bodoni Poster Compressed. which existed in 1929.
    Customised width.
    Chauncey H. Griffith.
    BUT.
    I could be wrong...
  • Cairo, the font you linked, is categorised under slab-serifs, notice that the serifs on the font are serious thin compared to Cario. There is extreme contrast between vertical strokes and horizontal strokes.
What that might come close to it might be Milano, Didot, all categorised under the modern category. But I suspect that the question mark might be a custom-made one specifically for this job.
  • Well, I could only find what's almost similar to this typeface. It's a bit thicker though.
